A Quick Guide To Writing A Marketing Plan

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 4:42 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2008

A well thought out game plan is a winning strategy in any battle! Your business is no less than a battle too, in which your competitors are trying to outsmart you every moment. To win this war, you need a game plan for your business. In other words, you need a marketing plan.

A marketing plan is a highly researched, well-written document which details all marketing actions necessary to achieve business objectives. It could be for a product, service, brand or a product line. From time to time, you need to stand back and see if your plan is working, and whether your day to day activities are aligned with it.

So let us begin with the basics of writing a marketing plan:

1. Title page - This must include the name of your company and the management team which is instrumental in developing strategies.

2. Executive summary - This is a quick overview of the main points in your plan. Although the summary comes first, it is best written last. This will ensure that you have not overlooked something and that your plan makes sense.

3. Current situation - Here, you need to analyze both the macro environment as well as the current market situation. The macro environment analysis will give you an insight into the economy, and larger legal and technical aspects that can impact your business. The current market situation will throw light on the potential market segment, competitor landscape, industry structure etc.

4. Consumer behavior - Present an analysis of your customers’ demographic profile and buying habits, talk about key motivators, loyalty segments and similar issues.

5. Company analysis - This is your chance to do some blah blah on your company. Just kidding! Analyze the internal situation of the company in terms of its vision and mission, long-term business objectives, short term goals, resource position etc. This is also an appropriate place to do a thorough SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis. This will help you identify the sustainable competitive advantages of your company, and also understand the key success factors for your business.

6. Market research - This chapter describes the process of data collection, method of analysis and key findings.

7. Marketing strategy - Step 1 - discuss product mix, product life cycle management, brand name, brand image etc. Step 2 - analyze market share by products, customer segments and geography Step 3 - it’s all about money, honey! this is where you talk pricing strategy Step 4 - share your advertising and promotion plans Step 5 - put down your ideas about how you will distribute our product.

8. Implementation - discuss the nitty-gritty out here. Chart out resource requirements, key deliverables, time frame and other issues related to implementation.

9. Financial summaries - include projections of income, break-even analysis, and payback period. List assumptions clearly.

10. Outlook - this contains predictions for the future and plans of action for alternative scenarios, if any.

11. Appendix - include all supporting material, tables and data.

Finally, we’ll leave you with a thought - if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail!

Adsense Alternatives

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 7:56 am on Saturday, March 29, 2008

Many people have started using Google’s AdSense program, but there are some who find it a bit too uncertain or simply not suiting their own requirements from an ad program.

But thankfully for such people, there are many alternatives to AdSense which attempt to alleviate some of its shortcomings. Here is a list of the most noteworthy ones from the lot with a description concerning each one.

AllFeeds (http://www.allfeeds.com/?action=publishers)

AllFeeds has a great pool of online advertisers to choose from. It also features many display formats that you can choose from. These include banners, buttons, XML feeds, DHTML pop-ups and so on. It also features real time reporting of your ad status. The site will mail a check every month, provided that you earn more then $25.00, while rolling over earnings for the next month if you don’t. Another interesting thing about AllFeeds is that it integrates with Google AdSense, maximizing your earnings with AdSense.

MarketBanker (http://www.marketbanker.com/mb/sell.php)

MarketBanker allows you the unique possiblity to set the pricing for your site. It also allows you to allow or reject any link that appears on your site (although AdSense itself does a very good job of this as well, with URL filters) There’s also a statistics section which will allow you to see how well your site is doing. The ads are small just like AdSense’s and they’re just as easy to set up. Also, registration for MarketBanker is free.

BidClix ( http://www.bidclix.com/PubTop.html)

BidClix is different because it has advertisers compete for clicks on your site, which in turn is meant to generate the highest possible profits for your page. It also has a very large pool of advertisers which ensure there are plenty of people to choose your site. However, it does require more polish on site contents then AdSense. As most sites, real time statistics are available and its very easy to get started with this service, but it’s also very flexible.

Chitika (http://www.realcontext.com/index.php?option=RealContext:+Contextual+Targeting+Engine)

RealContext uses Artificial intelligence to retrieve the most relevant ads for your page. And there’s an extra feature which makes RealContext unique as well. Keywords are selected based upon which previous selections payed off and which didn’t. That means there’s a constant feedback process that ensures you gain better revenue from your ads. It also supports blocking certain adds and child-safe filtering and many more options.

AdHearus (http://adhearus.com/webmaster.php)

AdHearus is a very feature-packed contextual ad provider. As with AdSense, advertisements are targeted but it doesn’t stop here at all. The ads are very flexible, you can select from text-ads, banners, rectangles, pop-ups, pop-unders or skyscrapers. You can also display your own ads, through rotation, both on your site and on other affiliate sites, which makes AdHearus a hybrid with conventional advertising technologies. There’s a very comprehensive on-line real time reporting feature and, as usual with such services, starting out is free and it’s a breeze.

AffiliateSensor (http://www.affiliatesensor.com/)

AffiliateSensor has highly customizable ad blocks, which you can make for yourself with an easy to use on-line interface. You also get realtime reporting with clicks-by-domain, page and refferer. There’s integration with Google AdSense as well, through the google_alternate_ad_url so AffiliateSensor can be used as a substitute for Google PSA’s (Public Service Ads).

Kanoodle Bright Ads (http://www.kanoodle.com/about/brightads.cool)

Kanoodle’s offering allows publishers to get ads related to topics or segments, and not the traditional keyword oriented ads. The site also groups publisher sites with advertisers by hand to ensure high-revenue generating ads. And speaking of revenue, the amount of money you receive is a clear 50% share of the amount of money Kanoodle recieves for an advertiser.

TargetPoint (http://publisher.targetpoint.com)

TargetPoint is oriented more towards content publishers. It offers full control over the look the ads, statistics over your site’s overall performance and better revenue. It’s free to register and you earn a guaranteed 60% of the total revenue. You can get payed with Paypal of Bank checks and (most times) wire transfers as well.

Clicksor (http://www.clicksor.com)

Clicksor will earn you as much as 60% from the amount of money your website produces. What you get is about the same as AdSense, there are targeted text ads, you can view the revenues from your website in real time. You can receive money via PayPal or through a check every two weeks, provided that you have earned more then $50. If you haven’t made that much, your earning roll over to the next period

Prove You’re The Solution

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 7:46 pm on Friday, March 28, 2008

We generate attention and interest for our business by focusing on results, not process, but that’s not enough to make the sale.

The initial reaction we get from our marketing message is key. But then our analytical minds tend to kick in and start to ask questions.

“How does this work?” “Will this work for me?” “How long will it take?” “Is that really possible?” “Who else has done it?” “Can they prove it?”

And, if you don’t answer those questions, you’re in deep trouble.

Last week I got a cold call from a VOIP provider. This is telephone service over the Internet. I’d heard a lot about it and it costs much less than regular telephone service, so I was interested. They already had my attention.

But then I asked the question that was most important to me, “Is the sound quality of VOIP as good as my regular phone line? Saving money is important to me but not if the cost is a loss of quality, since I do so much business by phone.”

I waited for them to prove it to me, and I was disappointed.

The best they could do was, “The quality has increased quite a bit recently.” Boy, was that persuasive!

Now who knows? The quality might have been just fine. But they did a very poor job of proving it to me. So I said, “No thank you!”

When you’re marketing your services, the biggest problem for you to solve shouldn’t be getting someone’s attention. That’s relatively easy. The biggest challenge is to prove that you can produce the results you promise.

And when most Independent Professionals are challenged to prove that they can deliver results, guess what happens? Believe it or not, they once again revert back to process. They talk about how they do what they do.

Your prospect: “You can reduce employee attrition by 30%? OK, how do you do that?”

You: “Well we use Jawarski’s Attrition Reduction Protocol that identifies the seven drivers of employee dissatisfaction and maps them on a grid to determine your primary mitigation strategies.”

Well, isn’t that interesting… Not!

I assure you that a prospect for your services is not looking for that kind of answer - almost never! That’s not proof. In fact, it sounds more like a smoke screen. Instead, they want to know:

What companies you’ve reduced attrition by 30% or more?

Were these companies much like their company?

How long did it take to get results?

Was the process relatively easy or long and involved?

How did they measure the actual results?

If you can’t answer questions like this, as far as they’re concerned, you have no proof that will turn them into clients.

You need to answer their question, “How do you do that?” with an answer that persuades. The good news is that the most powerful way to do that is through “Success Stories” which make a solid case for your services.

Something like this…

“The best way to answer that question is by telling you about a client we worked with recently. They were in the same industry as you and were frustrated that they’d been losing their best talent. We did some assessments (the Jawarski’s Attrition Reduction Protocol - but don’t tell them that!) and then helped them make some changes that would retain their best talent.

“Within six months we’d turned around the attrition problem and by conservative estimates saved the company $987,000 in costs to hire new managers.”

Now I don’t know the results, facts and figures for your particular business, but I’d spend a lot of time developing and practicing these Success Stories until you can relate them with confidence and clarity. Your success as an Independent Professional just may depend upon it.

Once you have your prospect’s attention and interest, prove you can produce results through carefully crafted Success Stories that are hard to ignore.

5 Keys to Successful Internet Marketing

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 7:36 am on Friday, March 28, 2008

With internet marketing becoming more and more popular what are the keys you need to make a success of your internet marketing endeavors? What things do you need to know or do in order to be a success at internet marketing?

1. List Building

If you have been in internet marketing for any length of time you will have heard the saying “the money is in the list”. Why do people say that? List building is vital to internet marketing because it gives you ongoing contact with your prospective customers. The first time people visit your website or your affiliate’s website they are not likely to buy the product. It has been said that a person needs to be exposed to something about seven times before they act on it so if you are just letting people drift by your website without getting their contact details then the chances are they will forget about it and you will lose the money. If, however, you have a list building system in place you can expose people to your product or your affiliate’s product as many times as you like and sooner or later if they are really interested they will buy something from you.

2. Targeted versus non-targeted traffic

Another important aspect of internet marketing is the quality of traffic you are driving to your website. If all the traffic you are getting to your website is non-targeted (traffic exchanges, safelists, etc.) then you will make relatively few sales because the people are not really interested in what you have to offer. However, if you target your advertising and use marketing techniques such as article marketing, forum marketing or targeted email groups then you are more likely to make sales because you are advertising to people who are already interested in your product.

3. Give the people what they want

If you want to sell to people you need to give them what they want. Different people are looking for different things but one way to ensure that you are reaching a fairly large group of people interested in your subject is to do some keyword research. If you can find an area where many people are looking but where there is relatively little competition then you have hit on a winner. If you are one of few companies meeting a large group of people’s needs then you will notice the effect of that in your bank balance. In internet marketing this is known as niche marketing.

4. Develop Multiple Income Streams

By developing multiple income streams you are reaching a variety of different target groups, preparing yourself well to adjust to cycles in the economy and marketplace and “not putting all your eggs in one basket”. This is therefore an important aspect to internet marketing and one you definitely need to consider.

5. Stay Focused

This may sound like a complete opposite of point four but it really is not. Although you want to have multiple income streams you also want to stay focused. You may choose to focus on a specific area or a specific product. You may choose to focus for example on dogs and then diversify by selling dog products as well as books and e-books about dogs. You could also choose to focus on information products and then sell e-books on many different subjects or set up adsense websites on a number of different subjects so focusing on product but diversifying your target market.

These five keys to internet marketing - list building, targeted advertising, niche marketing, multiple income streams and staying focused are vital to your internet marketing success and should be aspects that you consider carefully when establishing your internet business.

Sex Is At The Heart of Web Sales

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 7:26 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2008

When you’re designing your web business and writing your sales messages which sex are you designing and writing for? Bet you’ve never thought about it! Yet there are profound differences between men and women in the world of shopping and you’d better start thinking about them, because women outrank men when it comes to buying stuff!

Let’s start with three powerful thoughts:

* Women Spend the money: Women instigate, control or complete over 80% of all retail purchases and they constitute over 50% of all corporate purchsing officers (Statistics are for North America).

* Women earn or control the money: Women on average in North America have pretty much reached wage parity (when you correct for part time and child bearing), but more important they are significant household breadwinners, and either own or will control (as baby boomer women are widowed) the bulk of the capital Women are going to OVERWHELM men economically in the upcoming generation: Women outshine men at school, are taking more degrees, are dominating some faculties and pouring into the high paid professions.

* Women already DOMINATE commerce on the web: By 2000 more women used the web than men, and 6 out of 10 new web users are women and amongst those wired women 83% are primary financial decision makers There’s more! I just didn’t want to depress the guys too much.

Have you got the message yet?

If you want to sell something on the web, a woman is very likely the customer and almost certainly the researcher.

So What? The so what of this lies in the fact that women’s buying behavior is radically different from men’s. There are Rules for Selling to Women, here’s three to get you started:

Rule 1: Men and women are constructed differently.

Stop giggling!!! There is absolute scientific evidence that women smell, hear, see, touch, and process information and emotions differently from men - differences rooted physically in the way brains develop. Iin the eighth week of pregnancy boy’s brains are flooded with testosterone reshaping their brain structure away from emotion, communication and empathy and toward aggression and sex drive. This causes deep differences in the way men and women experience the world - including shopping.

Rule 2: Women and Men are motivated and driven by very different perspectives on life

If you are writing web text or a sales letter, we feel these different life experiences would lead to different ‘hot buttons’ and ways of communicating as between women and men. Women are driven by community, connectedness, nurturing, safety and their brain circuits favor commnication, gut feelings, emotional memory, and anger suppression. Women also have superior verbal skills.

Rule 3: Women have a very particular and specific shopping pattern

Men are famous for rushing to the store for a single purchase that they make quickly with minimal research and often on impulse. Women don’t do that: they make multiple purchases in one trip, are more likely to research the purchase, more likely to take it back, and less likely to be impulsive. Some thoughts:

? Women are demanding in making the initial purchase in a category, they recoup their time investment by staying more loyal to the brand they’ve chosen in subsequent purchase cycles increasing retention rates

? Word-of-mouth recommendation is more prevalent among women, they are more likely to recommend to others those brands or salespeople that impress them favorably — in essence, free marketing of the most powerful kind..

? The big risk - capturing women and losing men. Well, it turns out not to be a risk at all. Companies have found that marketing and service improvements designed to enhance brand appeal among women have resulted in greater customer satisfaction among men as well. The reason? In many respects, women want all the same things as men - and then some. Accordingly, when you meet the higher expectations of women, you are more than fulfilling the demands of men. Experience indicates that men do not abandon brands that tilt the purchase experience toward women. However, we would point out that economically, given the purchase and money data shown earlier - who cares if you lose a few low value male customers?!!!!!

If you’re a man (or a woman who’s been brought up on traditional methods), isn’t it worth re-orienting your thinking. Absolutely! If you think 80% of the market is worth it. And don’t forget, after lots of male-orientation, in many categories, the traditional male targets are saturated; the corresponding women’s segments are untapped and virtually uncontested by competition.

How to Market with Articles

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 7:16 am on Thursday, March 27, 2008

Writing articles is a very effective way to get one way links to your site as well as to have people learn more about your website or service. However, there are ways to do this that can make you more successful versus have your articles be overlooked and not considered.

Shane Pearce has written the Lazy Man’s Guide to Article Writing which outlines some helpful tips. I was first impressed with his tip that when you submit your article to an ezine publisher or a webmaster, that you can offer him to use his own affiliate link in place of your own. For instance, if you have written an article on motivation and have a link to a clickbank ebook on motivation and goals, you can offer the publisher that he use his own affiliate id instead of yours. What this means is that the ezine or website publisher will be getting a free article already written with a link that may give him some monetary income. You still would have your own information in your resource box at the end, so people can click to your website as well. Think about what the website publisher you write to will get out of the exchange and find a way to make his or her life easier.

Other tips he gives are to read frequently asked questions to find out what people want to know about in terms of popular topics. Shane discusses how to make a viral ebook based on a faq niche that can be passed around. If there are frequently asked questions on a topic that is a sign that the topic has an interest as well as the fact there may be an interest in some guide or tutorial.

Also I like the sample autoresponder examples he uses as well as different ideas for a signature file at the end of one’s article. I think he is very good at showing how to integrate a couple of affiliate links without being pushy. He recommends sending people to opt-in to a mailing list as part of your signature file.

Another section I found useful discusses how to create checklists and use them both for your website and in articles that lead back to your website. People like checklists. Shane discusses how to use these. They also help break through writer’s block or paralysis because you can have a list of steps .

There are ideas given about utilizing both 2-tier affiliate programs and residual income programs that will help you keep you earning as your articles circulate around the net. Shane gives some interesting suggestions on types of sites that work for this.

I also like that Shane gives an example of a flop he did of an unsuccessful attempt at marketing. He analzyes it and compares it to something someone else wrote he feels was better expressed. It is a very interesting study covering various ways to get your articles noticed and published. I publish articles regularly but learned some valuable tips from this ebook.

The 5 Myths About Google PageRank

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 7:04 pm on Wednesday, March 26, 2008

The recent Toolbar RageRank update once again has generated a lot of discussion in the SEO community. Webmasters report their websites receiving not much more traffic despite the increased visible PageRank. In numerous forum threads people question the reliability of toolbar values. By unveiling the following five myths I hope to answer to some of the uncertainties caused by this update.

1. PageRank values range from 0 to 10.

While some people believe that PageRank is an integer number or at least converge to an integer after intensive recursive calculations, actually it is a floating point number. Google rounds up the real value to the closest integer and puts it on the 0-10 scale which is displayed in your browser toolbar.

2. PageRank value displayed in the toolbar is the one used to rank the results.

As you might have noticed, the toolbar value is updated every few months with no regular intervals. In the present time Google continuously calculates and updates PageRank so that sometimes actual PageRank and its toolbar values can differ. The toolbar value should be considered not as a current rank but as a level your page has reached by the time of the latest toolbar update.

3. PageRank is the primary factor to rank the search results.

Not exactly. PageRank was the backbone of the Google success as a search engine because of its integrity, ability to use the unique democratic nature of the web and hyperlinks, and relatively high immunity to abuse. But as years passed the Google technology became far more sophisticated. Now Google uses a cloud of factors to rank its search results. Some of them are query specific (keyword saturation of the page copy and the backlinks’anchor text) and some of them are domain specific (domain age, keywords in domain name, and of course PageRank). Nobody outside the Google’s offices knows the actual weight of each factor and it is quite possible that PageRank is no longer the primary one.

4. Google toolbar shows an increase of PageRank for my pages. My traffic is going to skyrocket!

Wrong. There won’t be any sudden traffic increase after toolbar upgrades any more. As I said before, the continuous calculation and update of the Google’s internal PageRank means that the rankings also adjust gradually as your pages get or lose backlinks. So the toolbar upgrade itself will not cause any changes in search results.

5. Toolbar PageRank is of no use, it is just for entertainment.

This is allegedly a quote by one of the Google representatives. This is only partially true. The reason why Google doesn’t show the actual PageRank any more is that there have been repeated attempts by hackers to access an exploit these data. Since 2004 the toolbar values updates are no longer synchronized with the actual rankings changes, and therefore should not to be considered too seriously in terms of SEO. However toolbar ranks still remains the easiest and most obvious way to evaluate the quality of a page and millions of web users regularly judge websites according to what Google toolbar shows them.

The Secret To Making Money Online

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 6:44 pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2008

As with anything in life, those in the know will always get ahead. So when attempting to get ahead it is always about a search for knowledge. If you want to be a great driver and you have not driven before, you can learn by your mistakes or get tuition. Obviously getting driving tuition is recognized as the way to learn to drive quickly and hopefully without any accidents.

If the principle of learning from an expert proven in there field, is accepted in driving and many other daily activities such as swimming or learning a trade. Then why is it when it comes to making money online that people try to go it alone and learn by their mistakes. Often people will spend many hours and much more money than they can really afford trying to make money online, and this is the paradox brought on by the fact that people understand that you have to speculate to accumulate.

So I here you say what is the answer, well my friend the same as always. Find an expert in there field and learn from them. I know there are thousands of Guru’s out there offering to teach you to make money online, and I know it can be confusing. However if you look in the forums and read some of the relevant blogs you will find some of the same names will crop up again and again. Once you have found a legitimate pro you can follow them as many will help you get on in joint venture type programs.

The best of these programs will teach you about which products are worth promoting online and which are not, and they will also teach you many ways to promote these products and which ways have become obsolete. Whatever you decide to promote to make money online and however you do it, starting on the right footing should save you time and money.

Want More Traffic? Use This Untapped Resource!

Filed under: Uncategorized — makemoneyonline49 at 6:36 am on Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Just when we have thought of everything and still want to generate more traffic, there is one place we can go. We have all heard of it, that’s right MySpace. An interesting thing happened when I was looking at my websites traffic statistics the other day. I found out that I have got over 4,000 visitors to my company website, from my personal MySpace website. That accounted for over 25% of my total traffic. From a search engine optimization standpoint this was a very sizable number.

This intrigued me so I signed my business up for a free account on MySpace. Invited all my friends from my personal MySpace account, joined groups on MySpace that are industry specific to my business, and bamm! More traffic. MySpace, to debrief, is a way for people to not only express themselves and their interests, but allows individuals, companies, music groups and others to network and keep in touch.

Remember traditional marketing, specifically businesses like Mary Kay? You would hit up everyone you know and tell them about your business. Your target of local friends and family would sustain the most business for you under this system. Not only does MySpace take care of this, but lets you reach farther with people you may not already know.

Give it a try, invite the MySpace community to your business and watch for increased traffic while doing so. So far I have seen nothing but good things from this and have even landed business.
